Life is too serious sometimes

I've been thinking a lot about how when I was young I used to wonder how adults how could be so dumb. You remember when you were you and the adults were so obviously wrong, but wouldn't admit it?

Then I became an adult or almost an adult. Yay!

I have to say, now that I am an adult being wrong and refusing to admit it is pretty tempting nowadays. I can see the appeal!

Why grow old
Let's stay young
I'm not right
And have some fun

What's a good day?

When you're in love you're happy.
And when you're in a arms you gaze.

Nothing is everything.

What's a good day?
1) Wake up fully rested.
2) Walk to local coffee shop with a good book.
3) Eat a pastry.
4) Realize something profound. Feel happy.
5) Go to local record shop.
6) Find some good ones at a cheap price.
7) Eat.
8) Do some chores.
9) Hang out with friends.
10) Sleep.

All I keep thinking about is her in my arms

All I keep thinking about is her in my arms.
And I won't be the same until she is mine.

And my friends keep telling me to:
Cool it now.
You got to cool it now.
Watch out you're gonna loose control.
Cool it now.
You got to slow it down.
Slow it down...
You're gonna fall in love.

♣ Rick Steve ♣

Follow Rick's blog as he travels around the world

Talk by Rick Steve. He is promoting his new book Travel as a polical act.

It is pretty interesting. You should check it out. I find his insights regarding how the unionization of Europe has made regionalism less scary to nations and how America is really an empire.

When I was traveling in Europe with my family, we used Rick Steve's travel guides, and I've become a big fan. He is from Minnesota and as you probably know Minnesotan are nice, friendly, and respectful to  elders. When you read his book, you can kind of tell he is from Minnesota, and I found the effect charming. Also, if you have a long trip, at some point you will want somebody to just spoon feed you the country. In other words, give me a list of things to do, and how to do them. Walk down this street, look at that statue, appreciate such and such in this specific way, go into this bar and order this. His travel books provide that. Sure it is more rewarding when you research everything yourself, or befriend locals and get the inside info, but having somebody just hand you a list is way easier.

Happy thanksgiving. Random trivia. List of countries that celebrate thanksgiving:
USA
Canada
Netherlands
Grenada
Liberia
Norfolk Islands

Arbeit macht frei (work makes you free)

File:Plan B at the Arches 2007.jpg
Plan B
Plan B is another artist example of the recent trend in modern reinterpretations of retro music that I love. Other examples would be Amy Winehouse, Mayer Hawthorne, Adele, etc... There is some seriously sweet dancing in the below music videos. Even if you aren't feeling the music, you should watch the videos for the dancing. (Apparently the blog of the casting director of the three music videos. She says choreographer was Quinny Sacks and Kendrick Sandy.)

Oh some life advice from a Singaporean. He says, "Don't work. Avoid telling the truth. Be hated. Love someone." Sound like good advice to me!

Youtube disco

I've been following the development of a little known Google product called Youtube disco. To tell you the truth the old version which is no longer available was better, but in it's current form, for what Youtube disco does, it is the best.

It works like this. You go to youtube.com/disco and there you find a search box. You type in whatever you want into that search box and Youtube will automatically make a playlist of music around what you typed (with related artists, music, etc...).

This is perfect when you have some sort of idea of what you want to hear, but don't really want to spend any effort on it. Say you got Lady Gaga Paparazzi stuck in your head, and you want to hear it and then move on (and you don't want to spend 2 minutes coming up with your own playlist). You go to youtube disco, type in "lady gaga paparazzi", and you get back that song followed by a bunch of similar songs.

Final thoughts:
"At first, dreams seem impossible, then improbable, and eventually inevitable."
-Christopher Reeve

Maybe you want to go to youtube.com/disco and then search for:

  • Neon Indian
  • Massive attack
  • House of cards
  • Underworld born slippy

It doesn't matter

Mark and Priscilla (gf)

Thought of the day:
A lot of things don't matter.

How did American music tastes become more electronic? My theory is that it started with Kid Cudi who brought electronic beats into mainstream hip hop.
